Students from years seven through 12 volunteered their time in the brisk weather in an attempt to beat the school’s 2016 donation, which finished at more than $3000.
The school program, which also sees 12 members of staff volunteer, regularly amounts to 10 per cent of Ballarat’s overall donation across the weekend of doorknocking.
The school also managed to gain the assistance of the Country Fire Authority, with a CFA vehicle accompanying the students on their doorknocking efforts.
Deputy headmaster Christine Shaw said the annual event had become an important part of the school’s community service program,
“The CFA have been on board since the start because we’ve got a lot of staff who are members of the CFA,” Ms Shaw said.
The appeal assists all aspects of the Salvation Army’s services.
