The Roosters kicked 15 goals last week, their best return for the season, and coach Marc Greig said his side would again look to take the game on – but not at the expense of its defensive structures.
Greig stressed the importance of applying themselves defensively or else it risks conceding 37 scoring shots as it did last week.
“When we’ve defended well and moved the ball well, we’re right in those games,” Greig said.
“It’s more our defence that we’ve got to work on.
“We need to make sure we move the ball quick from our back line and once it’s in our forward line, even if we don’t kick a goal, we need our team set-up, lock it in there and get a few more stoppages and a few more repeat entries.
“So the team defence side is just as critical as the ball movement and it’s something we’ve just got to keep working on.”
The Roosters have made four changes to the side, with the long-awaited return of Luke Kiel being one of them.
Greig said the quartet of inclusions would help it execute the desired gameplan.
“Hopefully these guys can help us out with our ball movement, we’ve showed some good glimpses over the past month, hopefully they can add to it.”
The omission of maligned Hawthorn recruit Ty Vickery will see him take to Eureka Stadium and Greig was mindful of his potential.
“He hasn’t been in super form at AFL level, and we don’t want to play him into form – but we’ve got to respect that he is a good player.”
