Creswick Ward councillor Don Henderson has put forward the motion, which if successful will see a space within the ward named after the organic farmer who started made his first foray into public life on the-then Creswick council.
The area, which would be decided through consultation with council staff and Mr May’s family members, would be a space where the well known environmentalist had planted native species.
In addition to his role with local government, Mr May was one of the pioneering forces behind a project in the 1970s and 1980s which led a team of unemployed people in planting trees throughout reserves and roadsides in central Victoria.
