More than $600,000 has been handed over to help the community recover from the fires in December, 2015.
The Scotsburn Phoenix Project will help the town’s resident and property owners rehabilitate the environment and agriculture.
A steering committee has been established, including representatives from the government’s Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning, Ballarat City Council and Moorabool Shire Council.
More than 4600 hectares and 12 homes were destroyed in the devastating fires the spread from Scotsburn, to nearby Clarendon, Durham Lead and Elaine.
Sovereign Hill’s Narmbool farm near Elaine was also ravaged after the blaze tore through the region during the night.
