Ballarat Turf Club to fore on country racing shortlists

Ballarat Turf Club is in the running for two Country Racing Victoria awards.

The BTC is on the shortlist for club of the year, an award it won two years ago, and event of the year with the Ballarat Cup.

The Burrumbeet Cup is also a finalist for the event of the year.

Avoca has been shortlisted for the customer service award, while the Darren Weir-trained Werribee and Warrnambool Cup winner High Church is vying for the country horse of the year.

The awards ceremony is on Saturday, August 26 – returning to Melbourne after being held in Ballarat  last year.

Shortlists:

Club of the year: Ballarat, Casterton, Cranbourne, Stony Creek, Warrnambool

Event of the year: Ballarat Cup, Burrumbeet Cup, Geelong Cup, Swan Hill Cup Carnival, Warracknabeal Cup, Warrnambool May Carnival, Wodonga Cup, Wycheproof Cup.

Horse of the year: Golden Oldies and Patch Adams (Terry and Karina O'Sullivan, Vianden (Austy Coffey), London Fog (Jamie Edwards), High Church

Customer service: Avoca, Donald, Geelong
