Booking.com analysts looked at destinations with the most endorsements for 'food' by Booking.com travellers from Australia to compile a list of top destinations.
Daylesford is the only Victorian destination on the list of Australia’s best.
Around 75 per cent of global travellers likely travel somewhere known for great food and drink when choosing a travel destination, according to Booking.com. It has been found millennials are the most keen to combine travel and food, with 79 per cent of travellers between the ages of 18 and 34 considering travelling somewhere that is specifically known for good food.
Booking.com chief marketing officer Pepijn Rijvers says reviews from real travellers online help others discover the best culinary destinations.
“Culinary travel is an ever-growing trend, with travellers planning trips centred on taste-inspired exploration and seeking to fully immerse themselves in the local culture, of which food plays a huge part,” he said.
“Not only are people looking for luxury gastronomic experiences, but also sampling local and street food.”
