Philip Holt and a co-accused broke into a car parked in Eureka Street to steal the bank card, the Ballarat Magistrates’ Court was told on Thursday.
On May 29, 2017, the pair used the bank card to buy fuel, cigarettes and other items on a number of occasions. At the Caltex service station in Sebastopol, $92 worth of items were bought.
The court was told on February 10, 2017, Holt stole $2153 worth of tools from a Delacombe address. DNA found at the scene led to his arrest.
Holt’s defence lawyer told the court Holt had grown up within a dysfunctional family and started using drugs at 12-year-old. But she said Holt had had periods of employment.
Holt has already served 51 days in custody.
He pleaded guilty a number of charges, including five counts of obtaining property by deception.
