Wins over Frankston Blues on the road on Saturday night and North West Tasmania at the Minerdome on Sunday will achieve this.
While the GMHBA Miners' first objective is to make the finals, just getting over the line will be enough as they strive for their first title since 2001.
They want to win all three remaining games to give themselves a chance of securing a home south conference final.
Frankston sits sixth in the south conference and out of play-off contention, having lost its past two outings.
The Miners will go into this encounter a firm favourite.
NW Tassie will provide a much different proposition.
Thunder is fourth, but fighting to stay in the south conference top four.
NW Tassie's mood at the Minerdome will be largely dictated by how it goes at Bendigo on Saturday night.
The Braves are breathing down Thunder’s neck in the battle for fourth.
If Thunder beats Bendigo, it will have two fewer losses than the Braves and just about over the line, but if the Braves take the honours – NW Tassie is going to be in a more aggressive frame of mind.
Miners are extremely well placed to secure the weekend double. Importantly, they are back to full strength.
Peter Hooley has returned from China, where he excelled for a Sydney Kings invitational team and NZ recruit Leon Henry gets better with every game he gets under his belt as he combines with Craig Moller, Davon Usher, Ash Constable and Marvin King-Davis.
Ballarat Skoda Rush takes some fine form into its weekend assignments against Frankston Lady Braves away and Launceston Tornadoes at home.
While Rush has revived it season, it looks to have left its run too late to reach the south conference finals.
It is mathematically possible, but Hobart would have to crash as well as Rush winning its last three fixtures.
