Lakers dominated the last quarter – kicking five goals to one – to salute 15.19 (109) to 13.13 (91).
Nathan Pring was the match-winner.
He produced a mercurial performance – weaving his magic in attack.
Redan had no answer to his pace and elusiveness as he kicked two goals and provided several assists for spearhead Lucas Anderson, who bagged five majors.
While the final margin was comfortable, Lakers only found time to relax at game’s end.
In a role reversal, the third term had belonged to Redan after a break even opening half.
The Lions put the pressure fairly and squarely on Lake Wendouree with five of the last six goals in that stanza.
Lachlan McLean, up from the under-18.5s, kicked four goals in his senior debut for Redan.
MEANWHILE, Melton stayed in finals contention with a come-from-behind eight-point win over East Point at the Eastern Oval.
Final scores: Melton 13.8 (86) d East Point 11.12 (78)
The Kangaroos had an opportunity to stay a game clear in sixth position and end Melton’s finals hopes.
They led by 13 points at half-time, but had no answer to the Bloods in the second half as the menacing Braedan Kight kicked a match-winning eight goals.
Melton has beaten East Point twice this year – results which have had a massive say in the teams’ fortunes.
The defeat has cost East Point its place in the top six, which now belongs to North Ballarat City, which had a bye.
It has been an incredible change in fortune for City, which after nine rounds had just one win after seven consecutive defeats.
North Ballarat, East Point, Melton South, which also had a bye, and Melton are all on 28 points with two rounds to play.
It sets up a massive round 17, with East Point at home to North Ballarat City, and Melton playing Melton South at MacPherson Park.
DARLEY reclaimed third position from Redan on percentage after getting back into winning form against Sunbury 13.6 (84) to 9.8 (62).
BALLARAT ended a long run of outs and stayed off the bottom by beating Sebastopol 16.18 (114) to 8.17 (65) in game when each wasted opportunities.
Nick O’Farrell kicked seven goals for the Swans.
