Snow has been recorded at a number of areas around Daylesford and Trentham, with enough falling to create a winter wonderland in the area.
It is the first time there has been enough snow to settle on the ground this year, although there has been a sprinkling in previous days.
Musk and Bullarto have also welcomed heavy snow.
As of 11am, the temperature in Ballarat sat at just 4.6 degrees.
However, there is minimal chance of snow in the city, with the Bureau of Meteorology only forecasting snow above 1000m.
