In what is essentially a dead rubber, the two teams lock horns in the last round of the National Premier Leagues Victoria 2 campaign at Morshead Park on Saturday afternoon.
Ballarat coach Danny Gnjidic is keen to finish the year on a high, with the team still a chance to climb to fifth on the west division table.
If that is to be the case, it would be a marginal improvement on the sixth-placed finish to the 2016 campaign when the club was branded as Ballarat Red Devils.
Gnjidic said he thought his side could have pressed for third or fourth on the ladder, but dropped some crucial points in recent weeks.
Ballarat is yet to find the net against the Werribee boys this season, with the FFA Cup game ending in a 2-0 defeat and the teams’ round 15 league clash finishing as a 0-0 draw.
As it stands, Ballarat sits sixth on the table, two spots above Werribee.
Gnjidic said defender David King was a chance to return to the side from a foot injury that kept him out of last weekend’s line-up that drew 2-2 with Melbourne Victory.
Despite signing as coach on a two-year arrangement, Gnjidic didn’t publicly commit to the role for next season when asked on Friday.
He said he would speak with members of the club after next Friday’s A-League practice match between Melbourne Victory and Brisbane Roar, which is being hosted by Ballarat City.
Regardless of this weekend’s result, Gnjidic said he wasn’t disappointed by the team’s campaign and felt there had been a lot of positives out of the year, particularly given the loss of some quality players from 2016.
Saturday’s game will start at 3pm.

Meanwhile, Sebastopol Vikings will have the weekend off from competition with a catch-up round in Football Federation Victoria men’s state league four.
Vikings sit second on the west division table with two games left in the season.
The team had led the competition, but slipped to second – one point behind Point Cook – with a 2-3 defeat at the hands of Altona North last weekend.
