Buninyong wheelchair track racer Sam Rizzo was recognized by the City of Ballarat for his outstanding achievements at the World Para-Athletics Junior Championships.

The 17-year-old won a silver medal in the 400 metres and took home the bronze in the 100m, 800m and 1500m.
At a small gathering in Ballarat’s Town Hall, Ballarat City mayor Samantha McIntosh spoke on behalf of the city of how proud they were of his efforts.
Rizzo said he would now turn his focus to training for the upcoming season and staying fit and healthy.
He said all the attention his achievements had brought upon him took some getting used to, but it was nice to be recognised.
“It’s getting a little easier,” Rizzo said.
“I’ve got to come back down to earth tomorrow.”
Rizzo was joined by his mother Debbie and coach, and Olympic gold medalist, Richard Colman at the ceremony.
