POPULAR schoolyard game dodgeball became serious competitive sport for Daylesford Secondary College teachers. So much so, that players watched 2004 American movie Dodgeball: a true underdog story for motivation leading into the round robin chance to prove their game in the Victorian Teachers’ Games on Monday.
Daylesford Neddo’s Ninjas definitely entered the afternoon’s play as underdogs after a tough lesson from Oakleigh South Primary School.
“We watched the Dodgeball movie to inspire us and we will get better,” Ninjas’ Allie Morrissey said.
The Games program moved predominantly indoors for day two action with plenty of feisty action including bubble football, beach volleyball, go karting, water polo and laser tag. AFL 9s, croquet and golf are among the sports added to the program on Tuesday.
Hundreds of teachers are celebrating the start of holidays by putting school pride on the line in Ballarat this week. The program includes visits to tourist sites and brewery and wine tours about the city.
