A large ball of bait on the NSW North Coast has attracted a large number of sharks close to the shores of Tuncurry.

The bait ball was spotted on Tuesday during aerial surveillance by the NSW Department of Primary Industries.
The bait ball stayed just behind the wave break as several sharks circled.
The NSW Department of Prime Industries said that a large number of white, bull and bronze whaler sharks were spotted near the bait ball.
A Bryde's whale and a number of seabirds were also feeding on the fish.
The NSW Government provides alerts of shark spottings and the location of tagged sharks via the Twitter account @NSWSharkSmart.
The sighting came a day after a juvenile great white shark passed within 50 metres of swimmers at Hawks Nest on the central coast, prompting an evacuation.
A number of white sharks were also detected on Wednesday, in and around the waters off Forster, Old Bar and Port Macquarie, just north of Tuncurry.
