Jordan Layley’s house was broken into and ransacked by thieves while she was at work on September 27.
The 23-year-old arrived home to find the entire house had been “turned upside down”.
“It was gut wrenching,” Ms Layley said.
“They had broken through the back door and tore through everything.”
All of her jewellery had been stolen, but it was the theft of her engagement ring, which was left to her by her nan Noelene, that hurt her the most.
“I could write an essay about what this ring means to me,” Ms Layley said.
“Without it, I feel like a piece of me is missing.
“My nan left it to me when she died when I was a teenager, and it always felt like I never had to say goodbye to her, because I always had a piece of her with me.”
When Ms Layley’s fiance, Bryce Mullane, proposed to her in April, he gave her the special ring to wear.
But now it is gone, along with their wedding ring.
Ms Layley is speaking out in the hope somebody has any information on the whereabouts of the rings and contacts police.
“It’s not about the money, to someone else they’re just two rings, but for me it’s different,” she said.
It comes after the problem of burglaries and home security across Ballarat has come increasingly under the microscope in recent months
Anyone with information about Ms Layley’s ring is urged to contact Ballarat police at the Dana Street station on 5336 6000.
