Crouch secures Blight Medal

Matt Crouch’s brilliant 2017 season has finished with the Malcolm Blight Medal.

Crouch, who grew up in Ballarat, is the second-youngest winner of the Adelaide Crows’ club champion award.

The 22-year-old onballer levelled up with teammate Rory Sloane in round 11 of the count and then broke clear in the second half of the year to finish well clear at the top of the leaderboard.

Crouch polled 315 votes, 62 more than runner-up Sloane. Rory Laird was third with 226 votes, while Crouch’s brother Brad was eighth with 194 votes.

Crows champion Andrew McLeod is the only player to have been younger than Crouch when winning the prestigious club award.

Crouch was named All-Australian this season and was one of his team’s best players in the grand final loss to Richmond.

At Friday night’s club function, he also received the Crows’ 19th Man Award, while Brad collected the Players’ Trademark Award.
