Emergency services have responded to a second suspicious fire in Ballarat in as many days, working to contain a grass fire near Victoria Street.

Senior Constable Ryan Newman said police noticed the fire while driving along Victoria Street before notifying the CFA just after 2pm.
Fire crews went through residential backyards along Rodier Street in order to access the blaze which was burning in a drainage easement. The fire was brought under control before 2.45pm.
Police had been called to a similar incident in Ballarat East on Sunday which was also deemed suspicious.
“There was no property damage and it’s all been contained to the hillside,” Senior Constable Ryan Newman said.
“We’ve now got some inquires to make in relation to possible witnesses.”
