South African captain van Niekirk didn't travel to Perth for a blockbuster WNCL double-header due to a hip flexor injury, meaning Allsopp needs someone to step up and fill the void.

After dismantling the Australian attack in an Ashes tour match earlier this month, Reakes is the player Allsopp has turned to.

The competition's top three teams in the Meteors, Breakers and the Western Fury have descended on Perth's Murdoch University Oval.

The Fury hosted the Breakers on Saturday, with the Meteors set to face NSW on Sunday, and round out the trip with a clash against WA on Monday.

The Breakers clash marks the ACT's first hit-out since they held Australia to a draw in a three-day match earlier this month, thanks largely to a Reakes century.

Reakes plundered a magnificent unbeaten 103* to send Australian selectors a reminder of her attacking prowess - and she'll be hoping to repeat her heroics against a very similar attack.

"[van Niekirk is] obviously going to be a big loss for us so we're going to need some girls to stand up with the bat and ball and from a leadership point of view too, because she's awesome around the group," Allsopp said.

"[Reakes has] showed glimpses of what she's capable of with some nice 40s and a couple of 50s in the last 12 months, but to score a hundred against the Australian attack is obviously going to give her heaps of confidence going into this game.

"She's just such an important player for us. Her strength is probably her versatility, she can bat long as she showed when she got the hundred, or she can score at a better pace and bat with the tail through the back end of an innings if we need her to."

In an ominous sign for the Meteors, NSW have welcomed back Ashes stars Ellyse Perry, Alyssa Healy, Alex Blackwell, Rachael Haynes and Sarah Aley.

Blackwell will take the Breakers' captaincy reins, while Haynes is riding high after skippering Australia to another Ashes triumph.

Allsopp says the Meteors need to be "fearless" against domestic cricket's premier outfit if they are to keep their unbeaten streak alive.

"Because we played them in the Aussie game and we competed so well against them, I think that's given our girls a lot of belief," Allsopp said.

"I know they're just itching themselves for an opportunity to prove how good they are against arguably the best players in the world so for us, we've got nothing to lose.

"I think we've got some really good plans and if we can execute that well we'll give ourselves a chance at giving them a run for their money."

The Meteors started their season with a bang when they trounced Queensland and Victoria in October, and Monday's date with the Fury will mark their final game before they split up for the WBBL.
