Wendouree’s Cole Roscholler continued on from his Saturday form, where he made 98, to make 65 and combine with North Ballarat’s Leigh Lorenzen (25 runs) to put on 50 for the opening stanza.
That set the tone for the BCA as fellow Rooster Mick Nolan made a quickfire 55 to keep the tally ticking along as Ballarat eventually made 267 from its 50 overs.
As Gisborne came out to bat, BCA struck early, removing Nick Smith for six. The BCA made inroads into the middle-order to have GDCA at 5-93 and falling well behind the required run rate.
It would eventually be dismissed for 189. North Ballarat’s Will Rogers taking 4-29 while some of the BCA’s top-line bowlers were on light duties after a big workload on Saturday.
Captain Adam Eddy was rapt with the team’s performance. In what was a fairly young BCA team, they showed they were up to the level.
“I was really pleased with how well they all clicked,” Eddy said.
“They’re all good enough to be there so it was good to see them show that.”
