The Buninyong onballer, who has battled issues related to concussion in recent seasons, played just two games last year before injuring his shoulder.
He sat out the rest of the campaign, which ended when Buninyong was beaten in a preliminary final by Hepburn.
Turner had been training well during the current pre-season, but badly hurt his hamstring while on the water earlier this month.
Buninyong coach Jarrod Morgan said Turner would likely undergo surgery next week to repair the hamstring.
Morgan said he was under the impression there would be a 12-15-week recovery period following the operation.
There is about two-and-a-half months until the Bombers open their 2018 Central Highlands Football League season against Springbank on April 7.
