She is scheduled to row in Mercantile colours in four events on Saturday - day two of the three-day regatta.
Bateman has competed in two world championships.
The 21-year-old rowed in the women's single sculls at 2014 world juniors in Germany.
Then last year she was a member of the women's four at the world under-23 titles in Bulgaria last year.
Bateman has entered the under-23 single scull, open double scull, open coxless quad scull and is a member of the Mercantile female open eight for one of the blue ribband events of the championships.
World championship silver medallist coxwain James Rook will also be part of the Mercantile contingent.
Rook was part of a men’s coxed pair which finished second in the United States last year.
It was the highlight a huge international campaign for 20-year-old Rook, who also coxed the Australian men’s eight to silver in World Cup III in Switzerland.
The titles begin with state selection 2000m time-trials on Friday from 6pm.
These will feature male under-21 and female under-23 and under-21 pairs; and male open, under-23 and under-21, and female open, under-23, under-21 and lightweight single sculls.
Mercantile, Melbourne Uni, Banks, Melbourne High School and Yarra Yarra will be among clubs represented across more than 80 boats.
The regatta has attracted 1015 entries with more than 2000 athletes taking up 3510 seats across 136 events.
Ballarat City Rowing Club has entered eight boats and Wendouree Ballarat six, with Ballarat’s biggest involvement coming from schools.
Ballarat interest will focus largely on the school coxed open division one events, which feature the Head of the Lake firsts crews, on Saturday.
The boys will be first on the water with heats scheduled for 2.25pm and 2.30pm.
Head of the Lake champion St Patrick's College has drawn heat two.
Heat 1: St Kevin's (2), Ballarat Clarendon College, Damascus College, Trinity, Ballarat Grammar School
Heat 2: St Kevin's (1), Ballarat High School, St Patrick's College, Trinity
The girls follow immediately at 2.35pm and 2.40pm, with Head of the Lake champion Ballarat Grammar in the first heat.
Heat 1: Ballarat Grammar School, Ballarat High School, Lauriston Girls' Grammar, Ballarat Clarendon College, Damascus College
Heat 2: Firbank Grammar, Loreto College, Toorak, Melbourne Girls' School, Shelford
The finals will be contested at 3.25pm and 3.35pm.
Rowing starts on Saturday and Sunday at 8am.
