BALLARAT-BASED firm Nicholson Construction has been awarded the $18.8 million redevlopment project for the Coleraine District Health Services redevelopment project, which started this month.Nicholson Constuction will manage the project from its Warrnambool office and will employ local contractors as well as staff from Hamilton and Casterton. About 60 employees are expected to work on the project at any one time.Nicholson Construction director Richard Nicholson said the company was thrilled to be awarded the successful tender and was committed to using local labour.“We are committed to building regional Victoria and are thrilled to have won this contract which will see a new state-of-the art health precinct for the Coleraine and district community,” Mr Nicholson said.The project is expected to be completed by January 2014 and will include demolition works, refurbishment of the existing aged care facility; constructioin of a new 61-bed accommodation facility; a primary care building; support services and facilites; infrastructure upgrades and new car park facilites.Recent projects completed by Nicholson Contruction include the Grey Street Primary School in Hamilton, St John’s Primary School in Dennington, the Casterton Hospital and the $5 million redevelopment of the Ballarat Health Services Emergency Department.
