Actor Andrew Larkins, who has worked at Sovereign Hill since 1997, has landed a guest part on the popular show.
Instead of playing an drunken digger or an 19th century gentleman, from late April he'll grace the small screen as Catholic priest Tom Scully.
Father Tom Scully arrives in Ramsay St as Joe Scully's younger brother who's been working as a priest in the Northern Territory.
Mr Larkins, who's wide range of television credits include Blue Heelers and Stingers, said his working days can now start at 6.30am and not wind up until 7pm.
"Father Scully is an interesting character to play. The circumstances of his arrival are surprising, and straight away he gets involved in the lives of Erinsborough's inhabitants," he said.
Mr Larkins said he was thankful Sovereign Hill was understanding towards actor's schedules.
"Sovereign Hill gives actors a great opportunity to interact with people.
"It's a great place to learn and build skills, bouncing off the public is all grist to an actor's mill," he said.
Mr Larkins has been shooting with the Neighbours cast since last November and said he has been thoroughly enjoying the experience.
"The people I work with are sensational and incredibly welcoming. You have to hit the ground running, and make some quick decisions about your character, because of the full-on schedule," he said
"The challenge for me has been to flesh out my character and build his history- which has been fun,"
Mr Larkins' advice to aspiring actors is to be prepared for an unsteady ride,
"Go for it flat out, but don't expect to be wealthy ever - or secure. Expect to have a lot of fun though," he said.
