HELPING A FRIEND: Local musician Kathie Lewicki, left, with Ballarat University student Suzi Koene, right, who had her trumpet stolen, and Allans Music staff member Richard Kornas, promote the fundraising night at the Creswick Farmers Arms Hotel later this month to help Suzi raise money to replace her much-needed musical instrument.

SUZI Koene is about to start her second year of music studies - without a trumpet.
The gifted Ballarat University student's $1500 trumpet was stolen from her car in Shepherd St last November.
Until now, she has been unable to buy a new one.
But that may all change thanks to fellow musician Kathie Lewicki, who is holding a fundraising night at the Creswick Farmers Arms Hotel to raise money to replace the instrument.
The Lowdown and Dirty band member said the night would feature traditional blues, roots, gospel and hillbilly mountain music.
"I saw the crime report in the paper last year and felt really sorry for Suzi," Ms Lewicki said.
"She's a promising player who hopes to have a career in music."
The fundraising night is on February 24 from 9pm to midnight, costing $5 entry.
Sponsor Allans Music in the Bridge Mall is giving a discount on the trumpet.
Donations can be made on the night or at Allans Music. Details: 5345 2221.
