One in 43 homes in Wendouree were burgled this year, while one in 47 were burgled in the Sebastopol/Delacombe area, making those suburbs the ninth worst in Victoria.
Homes in both suburbs were about twice as likely to be burgled than the majority of other houses, with one in 86 homes burgled on average throughout regional Victoria.
Norlane/Corio topped the list as the states worst, with an average of one in 37 homes broken into.
The data, released by the RACV yesterday, showed home burglaries increased by an average of seven per cent across Victoria.
Just 15 per cent of burglaries end up solved.
“Residents can minimise the risk of their properties being burgled,” said RACV general manager home services Peter Brindley.
“Prevention is key to financial cost and emotional trauma of invasion of your home and your personal space.”
Mr Brindley also encouraged people to be aware of their online and social media activity, to ensure thieves could not pinpoint times when people were not home.
