Having lost a loved one due to road trauma and living with injuries through the auctions of a careless driver I wonder if prison is the best option for some offenders. Could their prison sentence not be one spent living with people in hospital assisting with care while supervised. Then the offending driver could move onto the rehabilitation facility with people, again to reside and assist where appropriate. I don't expect this would be a pleasurable experience. It may be insightful and something may be learned. Sending offending drivers to jail is allowing them to mix with other alleged/convicted offenders. What are they actually learning as a result of their actions?
