The small group was among 38 swimmers from the district competing at the six-day event held at the Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Centre.
Swimmers represented Ballarat GCO Swimming Club, Ballarat Gold Swimming Club and Ballarat Swimming Club, three of the 110 clubs represented from Australia and New Zealand.
Ballarat Gold placed 39th overall, with 35th overall for girls and 38th for boys in the final point tallies.
Ballarat GCO also placed well as a club, finishing 55th overall with 48th for boys.
Hayley Tucker, a member of Ballarat Gold, earned two sixth places in the girls’ 16-year-olds 100-metre and 200m breakstroke.
Teammate Thomas Halliday competed in the finals of three events, placing ninth in the boys’ 16-year-olds 200m butterfly, eight in 16-year-olds 400m individual medley and seventh in the 16-18 year-olds1500m freestyle time trial.
Ballarat GCO member Connor Bentley placed eighth in the boys’ 16-year-olds 200m breaststroke.
Andrew McDougall, also from Ballarat GCO, finished seventh in the boys’ 16-year-olds 100m breaststroke and ninth in the 16-year-olds 200m breaststroke.
Ballarat Gold’s Michael Rodger placed eighth in the boys’ 14-year-olds 400m individual medley and ninth in the boys’ 14-year-olds 200m breaststroke.
Maaike Vrij, from Ballarat Gold, was put on the finals’ emergency list after placing 12th in the girls’ 14-year-olds 100m breastroke.
