Thirteen-year-old Domonic McKendry, 14-year-old Madee Townsend and 15-year-old Aaron Fischer, from Ballarat Specialist School, will head to Newcastle in December.
After picking up medals in the state games, Domonic and Madee have qualified for the swimming squad and Aaron will play basketball.
Teacher’s assistant Jo Townsend said the kids would go to Melbourne each month for training sessions, which was a big committment.
"It does cost, we’ll do a lot of fundraising," she said. "A lot of the clubs help us out, too."
The Junior Special Olympics are held every four years for children under 16 with an intellectual disability.
Domonic, Madee and Aaron will compete in their team events as well as skills activities in different sports.
