More than 60 swimmers, aged eight to 24, will represent the region from Ballarat Swimming Club, Ballarat Gold and Ballarat GCO at the three-day long event.
Midlands District Amateur Swimming Association publicity officer Maree Willemer said the Ballarat swimmers were in good form for the competition.
“We should have a fair few that make finals, based on their entry times,” Millimer said.
“They’ve had a good lead up to the event – now we just have to see how everyone performs on the day.”
Millimer said Ballarat Gold’s Hayley Tucker would have a good chance of finals after qualifying with the third fastest time for the women’s open 200 metre backstroke, and second fastest in the 100 metre breastroke.
Club mate Daniel Cavanagh qualified fastest for the boys’ 18 and over 50 metre butterfly and second in the 100 metre butterfly and Joshua Brien qualified second on entry to the boys’ 11 and under 50 metre backstroke.
Ella McCahon qualified second in the under-13 girls’ 100 metre breastroke and Matthew Norman qualified fastest for the boys’ 100 metre backstroke.
Ballarat GCO swimmer Brendan Cutts qualified fastest for the boys’ 18 and over 50 metre breastroke.
Ballarat swimming club brothers Takumi and Shogo Travena qualified both second and fifth for the boys’ 11 and under 50 metre freestyle.
Shogo Traveena also qualified third for the boys’ 11 and under backstroke.
The Ballarat club swimmers will join more than 600 swimmers in the competition.
