Australia’s largest charity recycler, Salvos Stores, will host the country’s inaugural Vintage Tee Day on March 22, designed to promote and support sustainable fashion.
Salvos Stores country Victoria area manager Shayne Camille said everyone was encouraged to wear a vintage or secondhand T-shirt. Ms Camille said Salvos Stores wanted people to create Vintage Tee Day events at their workplace and schools.
“It takes 2700 litres of water to make one cotton T-shirt so we’re trying to support sustainable fashion and reduce the carbon footprint,” Ms Camille said. Salvos Stores chief executive officer Allen Dewhirst said the store was excited about the inaugural event.
