Ballarat-based paint manufacturer Haymes Paint is experimenting with a novel morale-boosting rewards program for its 156 employees.
The best part is that their reward also helps to support the valuable work of children’s charity Variety Victoria.
Seven staff members will be given a spot in the inaugural Haymes Paint Variety Bash vehicle – the Green Machine – in this year’s Variety Bash.
The bash leaves Echuca on August 20 and ends in Broome 12 days later.
Haymes Paint business development manager Travis Wright said he came across the bash in his previous job as an underwriter, working with RACV and CGU.
“I have never been on it, but I saw what a life-changing event it was for many of the people who did it,” Mr Wright said.
Selected staff will each get a three to four day leg of the journey, which enables them to experience the thrill of the outback as well as the chance to give back to small communities and children in need.
The Haymes entry, a 1971 Holden Kingswood, is largely untouched, apart from its new green paint job.
Each entry has to raise a minimum of $7500 and cover its own expenses.
