TWENTY-SEVEN-YEAR-OLD Cyndi Nunn has received a Melbourne Marathon Spartan membership, making her the youngest person ever to do so.
Nunn is the 70th female to receive a Spartan membership, awarded to athletes who have completed 10 Melbourne Marathons.
“I really really wanted to do it. I created history, it means so much more than just running a marathon,” Nunn said.
She completed Sunday’s marathon in four hours 14 minutes, almost an hour longer than her personal best, due to glandular fever.
Nunn trains with the Tan Clan running group four times a week with her mother.
“It’s a sense of achievement that keeps me sane,” she said.
“I love running and meeting those people four times a week, it’s a great catch-up.”
Inspired by her parents, Nunn ran her first half-marathon at age 16 and completed her first marathon at age 18.
“Everyone has one of those things, you just cant explain why you do it,” she said.
“It’s a great activity and I don’t play team sports.”
