Last week she received her winning result after competing in the state regional competition a month ago.
Ms Watson created a linear bouquet, a cluster wreath and a wedding bouquet as part of the competition.
The 21-year-old first tried her hand at floristry through work experience at White’s when she was 15 years old and has never looked back.
“I love it. I love being hands on and creative.” She started her apprenticeship soon after and would travel to Melbourne one day a week for training.
Now she’s continuing to learn by doing a certificate four and will shortly begin preparations for the national competition.
“It’ll be a huge experience competing against all the other states and seeing what the other competitors will do,” she said.
“It pushes yourself to learn more, try harder and strive to improve.”
If she wins the national competition, she will receive a scholarship to continue training overseas as she is too old to compete in the international competition.
