The Auslec Ballarat Rush player was a member of the Australian under-19 women’s team to win an Oceania Pacific championship in New Zealand.
Australia defeated New Zealand Maori 74-54 in the final in NZ – going through the tournament unbeaten.
This ends on a high what has been a huge year for the 17-year-old Burton, going from representing Vic Country to touring Hungary with a national development team and then NZ.
Burton, who plays with Exies Acmy in the Ballarat Basketball Association, scored seven points and had two assists in the gold medal play-off.
She averaged 6.8 points at 58 per cent, shooting 3.8 rebounds and 2.3 assists in Australia’s six games.
