A targeted campaign has secured players to fill a number of deficiencies, says Rea, who is preparing for his third season in charge of the Central
Highlands Football League team.
The Emus’ most exciting prospect could be young midfielder Mitchell Jones, who arrives from Numurkah, where he finished well up in the club’s senior best and fairest last season.
“He’s going to be a good get for us,” Rea said.
Jake Hobbs joins from Kalkee to bolster the ruck stocks, Jack Timmins crosses from Castlemaine and is expected to play onball or on a wing, Cameron Sudholz has been lured from Lake Wendouree as a half-back and Luke Bish is also likely
to find a place in the backline after arriving from Beaufort.
Rea said the team’s biggest loss so far was that of last season’s vice-captain Scott Fletcher, who has decided to hang up the boots.
Skipton doubled its win ratio from the 2012 season, prevailing in eight matches to narrowly miss the finals in 2013.
The Emus will open next year’s campaign with a home fixture against Rokewood-Corindhap on April 5.
