The Highlanders have a home court advantage for the Tennis Victoria Inter-Regional Country Tennis Championships.
For the first time in more than 35 years, the Central Highlands region will host the hotly contested teams event that showcases Victoria’s best country players.
They will do battle on the grass at Mt Prospect Tennis Association.
“We’re getting pretty strong ... it’s always good to get new players in and let them experience what it’s like,” Stone said.
“It’s good to play together for a while, like most of us have, but it’s good to also get new players in to mix it up.”
Stone and fellow Highlander Ashleigh Jolliffe, both former WestVic Academy of Sport members, won the mixed doubles title for their age group in three consecutive years from 2010 to 2012.
Jolliffe is the reigning under-22 women’s singles champion.
Competition, broken into seven age groups, will feature a wealth of men’s and women’s players ranked inside the Australian top 100.
