Firefighters were busy for much of Saturday, with temperatures of 33 degrees contributing to severe fire conditions and helping fuel a number of fires across the region.
It was the first testing day of fire conditions for Ballarat, with the summer has yet to fully kick into its driest conditions.
More than 20 fire trucks worked to put out a blaze at Tatyoon as grassfire burned out of control for much of the day.
A watch and act message was put out by the CFA for those near Porters Bridge Road, however it was eventually brought under control.
Temperatures of 33 degrees and high winds, including a change of direction in the afternoon, had firefighters on alert all day.
Earlier in the day a small grassfire at the rear of some residential houses in Canadian also required the attendance of the CFA, but it was quickly extinguished.
Fires were also contained at Racecourse Road in Ercildoune, while an all-clear message was also put out regarding a small fire near Daylesford.
More than 23 units were called to a much larger fire in the Pyrenees at Joel Joel near Landsborough.
20 fire trucks and four aircraft worked to bring the grass and scrub fire under control at about 4.30pm yesterday.
A Country Fire Authority spokesman said there was no threat to Joel Joel and Landsborough West residents.
