Specifically acquired by Ballarat trainer Darren Weir, Heisman ($1.60 favourite) had the feature event in his keep a long way from home.
He hit the line almost nine lengths clear of 2012 Burrumbeet Cup winner and pacemaker Tube ($8), with Quick Shakes ($3.20) anchored down by his top weight in third.
Tube led the five-horse field, with Red Royal on his outside, Heisman tucked away on the rails and Quick Shakes and Xavier side-by-side.
Heisman was always travelling comfortably for jockey Harry Coffey.
All he needed was a run and when it came with about 600m to go Heisman did not take long to put the race away.
