Magic Millions 2yo classic line-up reinforces Ballarat's clockwise race standing

THE standing of Ballarat’s unique clockwise race as a lead-up to the $2m Magic Millions 2yo Classic has been reinforced.

The top three from the $200,000 Magic Millions Clockwise 2yo Classic on Ballarat Cup Day will line up in the rich feature event on the Gold Coast on Saturday.

New South Wales filly Sheer Style won the second running of the only clockwise-run event in Victoria from Geromayo, with I Am The General third.

The race was designed to provide Victorian trainers with an opportunity to test youngsters the Queensland style in readiness for the Magic Millions Carnival.

Caulfield trainer Mick Price (Germayor) and Mornington’s Shane Nichols (I Am The General) were convinced to make the trip north on the strength of the Ballarat performances.

BLISSFULL Kisses ($6.30) opened her metropolitan class account with a deserved win at Melton on Friday night.

After being close in some fast-run events on the track, the six-year-old mare saluted for Burrumbeet trainer Ashleigh Herbertson in a mile rate of 1:57.3 over 2240m.

This stretches the Queensland-bred Blissfull Kisses’ career record to 11 wins in 31 starts for almost $70,000 in earnings.

BEAUTY Secret ($2.70) continued the marvellous run of Smythes Creek trainer Emma Stewart in mares’ feature events by taking out the $20,000 Graham Goffin Memorial, 1720m, at Melton.

As a group 1 winner Beauty Secret has been instrumental in the stable’s run with fillies and mares over the past four seasons, with her record now standing at 19 wins in 40 starts for more $310,000.

Beauty Secret sparked another run of winners for Stewart, which featured Metro Mike ($2 favourite) at Cranbourne on Saturday night, and smart 3yo Major Secret ($1.10 favourite) and Goodtime Mike ($1.80 favourite) at Horsham on Sunday.
