In a story in The Standard, it was reported that Cr Johnson would throw her hat in the ring for the seat of Ripon, which takes in Ararat, Stawell and Maryborough.
Denis Napthine’s electorate officer Nathan Anderson was also reported to be interested, as were winery owner John van Beveren and Institute of Public Affairs researcher Louise Staley.
However, Cr Johnson quashed the report this morning saying that she wouldn't be running for preselection in Ripon - or the Ballarat seats of Wendouree and Buninyong - at the upcoming state election.
"There is no truth to the rumour that I intend to stand for preselection in the seat of Ripon," she said.
"A number of people have encouraged me to nominate for pre-selection.
"My priority is working hard for the people of Ballarat who elected for me as a councillor for a full four-year term. I intend to serve that term out."
