Police worked throughout the long weekend to ensure public safety, as well as another statewide traffic-based operation.
Ballarat police Senior Sergeant Neale Robinson said there were a number of incidents around town, in residential areas and at Lake Wendouree on Sunday night.
“Drunkenness is one of the major issues behind the jobs attended,” he said.
Senior Sergeant Robinson said no one was brought in to the station caught for drink-driving. offences.
“There were a lot of families down at the lake to watch the fireworks.
“The problem behaviour was not an issue until later and after the families left.”
He said that although behaviour wasn’t too poor, there were still areas for the region to improve.
“We still have concerns over violence in the region when people have been drinking.”
