Businesses are encouraged to decorate their shop windows with anything purple, as well as use a Relay for Life resource pack with signs and balloons in the lead-up to the Cancer Council Victoria fundraising event.
The Bridge Mall’s Inhabit store is the first business to get involved and has placed coolers, drink bottles, ornaments and other items from around the store in their display.
Acting manager Liz Jeffreys said most people had friends or family touched by cancer and Inhabit wanted to spread the message of how everyone can help.
Ballarat Relay for Life chairwoman Kylie Jones said the organisation was still raising awareness and funds for the event.
“Our goal is to raise more than $90,000 this year,” she said.
The Paint the Town Purple campaign will run from February 3 until February 7.
Businesses that would like to take part can get a resource pack by calling Kylie Jones on
