IT HAS been several years since Taxiride bid farewell to its fans, but the band's former frontman Jason Singh has made a return.
"For me it was about getting out of the Taxiride bubble and finding my passion for music again which was dying a little bit," Singh said.
"It ended up being like Groundhog Day where I was doing the same thing over and over again."
The last few years have provided life experiences for Singh, with the artist getting married, having children and re-igniting his love for music.
Having released his debut solo record Humannequin, Singh said the record took bits and pieces from his own life and the lives of his friends and family.
"The idea of working on some new stuff and making new tracks happened organically and I'm the type of songwriter who needs to live through experiences before I can write about them," he said.
"One of the stipulations for the record was that everything had to feel like it was played by a human. There's so much electronic music out there and a lot of it doesn't feel human," he said.
Singh is currently on an in-store Sanity tour performing songs from his new record as well as some Taxiride favourites.
He said he was excited to meet fans and share his music in an old-school format.
"The power of personal has always been very important to me, and an old-school in-store promotion gets me in front of people," he said.
"I'm really excited to get to the Sanity stores, set-up and play live. The in-store performance gives me the opportunity to be in front of people and get an instant reaction to my music.
"There could be five people there or 50 people or 500, but it's something really different."
