Fire Crews are reiterating they have a zero tolerance to residents burning off in their back yards after two call outs to attend incidents over night.
Ballarat City Fire Brigade senior station officer Neville Collins said crews attended two houses overnight including one in Mount Clear where a resident had a large fire in their backyard burning off garden material.
"We now have a zero tolerance and police were called," he said.
"People need to be mindful of the fire danger and there is a ban on burning off in your backyard."
Crews also attended a false alarm at the Department of Defence.
WEATHER
Ballarat will experience a top of 33 degrees as we get ready for more sweltering weather.
Temperatures are expected to reach 38 degrees on Saturday meaning many residents will spend their weekend indoors with an air conditioner running.
A minor cool change will come through next Monday with a top of 27 predicted.
POLICE
Ballarat Police recorded yet another quiet night with nothing of interest to report.
Elsewhere across the state, police arrested two people in Geelong overnight after allegedly locating more than 250 cannabis plants in a Grovedale house.
Police executed a search warrant at the house about 7pm and then intercepted a white Toyota sedan which allegedly drove past the property several times.
The pair is currently assisting police with their enquiries.
A crime scene guard was put in place overnight, with investigators set to return to the property later this morning.
