Shine Australia is sourcing filming locations for an adaptation of the reality television show American Pickers, broadcast on 7mate.
The hosts of the show, known as “pickers” search through garages, attics and houses in search of antiques and collectibles.
Owner of Ballarat antique store Alexa’s Treasures Kim-Alexa Sascia said it was an exciting opportunity for Ballarat and its surrounding rural areas.
“Many farms and sheds are full of stuff,” Ms Sascia said.
“We have many people contact us when they’re moving to preserve valuables and restore them to their glory.”
Picking or “knockers” as it’s known in Australia, is a great way for antique experts and semi-professional collectors to buy and sell items.
Aussie Pickers is looking for more female participants and homes filled with a variety of odd, quirky goods for the latest season.
“Last year we met amazing people with amazing things,”
said a Shine Australia spokesperson.
