The 16-year-old will compete in the 2014 Australian Junior International under-19 championship, to cap off a fortnight of international tournaments at Ken Kay Stadium.
The championship will be contested hotly by more than 50 players from Australia, Tahiti, Indonesia, Tonga and Sri Lanka. Coming off the back of last week’s Oceania Championships, where Lorincz made it to the women’s singles third round, the home-grown ace will be in the mix for the girls’ singles and doubles and mixed titles.
Lorincz will play with fellow Ballarat talent Mitchell Gervasoni in the mixed doubles.
The Ballarat Grammar student said she had taken eight days off a demanding year 11 schedule to prepare for the tournament.
“I’m feeling pretty good. We’ve been doing a lot of practice, training in the morning, matches at night,” Lorincz said. “It’s pretty tough because I’m doing two year 12 subjects. It’s pretty hard missing it.”
Lorincz who began her badminton career at age 10, trains with the WestVic Academy.
The junior international event was initially scheduled to start today, but has been pushed to tomorrow because of low entries.
