Rowing crews prepare for Friday

BALLARAT schools' rowing crews are busy putting the finishing touches to their preparations ahead of the annual Head of the Lake regatta, which is just two days away.

The Courier will bring you all the action live from Lake Wendouree, via social media platforms Facebook, Twitter and Instagram and online through our website. The coverage continues in the print edition the following day.

Friday's big afternoon of rowing begins from 1pm, with the final race to finish about 4pm.

Sports journalist David Jeans has been busy previewing the schools competing in the regatta since last Friday, with the second last of his features focusing on Ballarat Grammar today.

He concludes his series tomorrow with a look at Loreto College.

Meanwhile, it is a big day for Ballarat cricketer Matt Short, who will represent Australia in the ICC Under-19 World Cup semi final in Dubai.

Also today, Football Federation Victoria is expected to release fixtures for the new National Premier Leagues season.

FFV will then outline the rules of competition on Tuesday, March 4.

And in racing, Ballarat's regular Wednesday night greyhound meeting kicks off with the first of 12 races to jump at 6.57pm at the Morshead Park complex.
