Police will prepare a report for the coroner after the death of a man following a crash in Glen Park yesterday.
Police said the driver, a 33-year-old Creswick man, appeared to have lost control of his vehicle on Slaty Creek Road and crashed into a tree about 11am.
The man died at the scene. The provisional road toll for Victoria stands at 50 deaths, compared to 42 last year.
WEATHER
Day two of the long weekend will be a sunny one, with a forecast top of 31 degrees. The warm weather will continue tomorrow for the Ballarat Begonia Festival street parade with temperatures expected to reach 32 degrees.
FIRE
Ballarat City fire crews did not attend to any jobs of significance overnight. However, the Country Fire Authority has released an advice message to Dereel residents this morning following a grass and scrub fire in the area yesterday afternoon.
Firefighters have stopped the spread of the grassfire and fire activity has subsided. The grassfire is now under control.
Residents are no longer under any threat.
Speed restrictions are still in place on the Colac-Ballarat Road near the fire area.

Paramedics experienced a quiet night in Ballarat overnight, attending to no trauma cases.
