The Selkirk Roosters will open their Victorian Football League campaign on Saturday, in one of the competition’s tough assignments – Collingwood at Victoria Park – with a vocal Magpie army expected for the club’s only game in the state this weekend.
Key midfielder Lachie George has been ruled out of the clash after he was found guilty of rough conduct stemming from a practice match against Werribee last weekend.
George, who pleaded not guilty at the Victorian Football League tribunal at Visy Park on Monday night, will serve one week.
The Roosters deliberately tried to take players out of their comfort zone in VFL practice matches over the past three weeks, against Geelong at Kardinia Park, Richmond at Punt Road, then fellow North Melbourne-aligned club Werribee at Eureka Stadium.
All preparations have been to ready the Roosters for Collingwood on Saturday.
