Police are appealing for witnesses after an alleged theft attempt in Delacombe overnight.
Police were called to Bond Batteries just before 2am where a dark coloured four wheel drive with a tandem trailer was sighted loading up with batteries.
Three people fled the scene upon police arrival.
Anyone with information or who might have seen the vehicle is urged to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

Another warm day for Ballarat with a top of 29 degree predicted.
Some rain is expected to come through later in the day with a chance of thunderstorms.
Looking ahead for the rest of the week there is a significant chance of rain every day until Saturday.
However, the rain will be minimal.
FIRE
A relatively quiet night for fire crews.
Firefighters were called to a transformer fire in Mount Helen earlier in the evening.
Crews also received a call-out to a smoke sighting, however, it turned out to be a false alarm.

Nothing to report from paramedics overnight.

So far so good for train commuters this morning with no delays to report.
Yesterday train commuters experienced delays of up to 40 minutes.
